At the 24th Net Impact Conference 2016 we saw 2,400 committed change leaders brought together to discuss how to drive positive impact around the world. And just as I felt a few days before at the BSR conference in Manhattan, I left the conference inspired to continue facilitating the career growth of these impact- driven professionals and Masters students.

In the wake of the presidential election, I’ve been thinking a lot about each of us needs to protect and foster our personal commitment to positive change, a commitment that was so prevalent at Net Impact earlier this month. Every one of the speeches and sessions explored tangible ways that our work can have a positive impact on the world and on our communities, including my own joint sessions on Impact Investing and the Sustainability Job Market.

A week before our tumultuous Presidential election, I sat down for breakfast in a packed ballroom at the BSR 2016 BE BOLD conference in New York City. And though I don’t normally eat my breakfast surrounded by hundreds of other people, it was clear that I was surrounded by like-minded souls. Addressing a room filled by individuals focused on exploring new ways to use business and leadership to create a more sustainable world.  Lindsay Levin, founder of Leaders Quest, left the audience with a piece of advice that clearly resonated with everyone the room, “If we want to be transformational,” she said, “we have to ready to transform ourselves.  This is something that is at the core of the important work I do with change leaders, and influenced much of our thinking throughout the rest of the conference.

Life seems busier these days, doesn’t it?
